Performing this exercise works the total body.

You can particularly feel the flexibility of the hamstrings and lower back being challenged while doing it.
As an athlete and somebody who regards performance the main objective I find this exercise much more beneficial that shoulder presses performed on a bench.

This exercise simultaneously strengthens the core, erector spinae and shoulders.

Why not try 3 sets of 10-12 reps as part of this weeks upper body workout? You may find your hamstrings are too tight and you can't get into the correct position due to stiffness and tightness of muscles. This can highlight areas that yu should concentrate on in order to ensure tour body is performong optimally.
