There’s no doubt out about it that many of us spend far too long sitting each and every day.
This can be due to a number of things such as:
…
– Having a sedentary job eg: Office based work etc.
– Spending a lot of time sat down on the laptop/ipad.
– Always using the car even for short journeys when you could easily walk.
In a recent study it was found that people who sit for more than 6 hours per day are more likely to die within 15 years than people who sit less than three.

Although you may think “I train hard, 3-4x a week so I’m active”
Sorry if you spend a great deal of the day sitting, then it is not an active lifestyle.
Sitting for too long can also be bad for your waistline as you have a lower NEAT (non-exercise active thermogenesis) which is basically the fancy term used for general physical activity such as walking to and from work, around the house etc. You’d be surprised how making an effort to walk more throughout the day can add to your daily calorie burn.
I appreciate many people are required to sit at a desk during your working hours, but just try and get up and stretch every 30 mins. When at home rather than spending the evening in front of the TV, get up and take the dog for a walk and even simple things like taking the stairs as it all adds up across the day.
